A Very Warm Welcome to Bella Vista

Welcome to the Bella Vista. We are sure you are looking forward to a well deserved holiday and after three months of lock down, Swanage is finally opening it’s doors to holiday makers. We are thrilled to be welcoming our guests back and we are sure you will love this beautiful part of the world and will be able to enjoy all it has to offer.

Our bed and breakfast accommodation offers splendid sea views across Swanage Bay. The house is an attractive Victorian villa with a picturesque garden, overlooking the bay and views towards the Isle of Wight. A short path runs alongside the property and leads directly to North Beach. This sandy beach enables you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town and, in the summer months, has a selection of beachside cafes and restaurants.

Our B+B is ideally situated in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck enabling you to explore many of the local areas of interest including: Corfe Castle, Swanage Steam  Railway, Studland Beach, Kimmeridge with Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door a short drive down the coast. The South West Coast Path, with its stunning views, can be easily accessed from the house with lovely walks leading to Old Harry Rocks, Durlston Country Park and beyond.

We aim to use local and home-made produce, wherever possible, supporting local suppliers and extend this home grown approach into our retreats venture.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to our new home.

Naomi and William Duffield.

Bella Vista - History

Bella Vista is a deceptively large house with a picturesque garden, overlooking Swanage Bay. Built in 1900, it has had a variety of uses.

From 1900 to 1934 it was known as The Bungalow and was let as apartments. In 1934 it was renamed Bella Vista and operated as a private hotel until 1940 when it was taken over by the army and used to billet troops including, from 1944, US Army soldiers. Bella Vista re-opened as a private hotel in 1954 and since then has been used for a variety of hospitality offerings including bed and breakfast, retreat centre, whole house summer lets and celebrations.

William and Naomi Duffield took over ownership in October 2017 and very much look forward to welcoming guests from January 2018
